who is tab?
“TAB” is Anna Maria Tabernik, Ph.D.
tab IS currently elected to represent Beaufort County Council District 6 located along 170 south of the Broad River.
She serves as the Vice Chair of Beaufort County Council and works hard to promote communication with residents, transparency of Council issues and fiscal responsibility.
TAB is the mother of two adult children (Holly-a Forensic Psychologist, and Nicholas, a Deputy Police Chief), and “Grammie” to three beautiful grandchildren (Austin, Avery, Aurora). She lives in Sun City and believes in giving back to the community by serving on the Beaufort County Council, being active in her HOA, serving as the district coordinator for AARP taxes in Bluffton/Hilton Head, and serving on the Board of the volunteer organization of Staying Connected. On Council, she is the liaison to the following: Beaufort County School District, Beaufort Memorial Hospital Board, Low County Transportation Committee, Beaufort County Economic Development Corporation, Low Country Area Transportation Study Group, Southern Low Country Regional Board, the Solicitor and the Low Country Council of Governments.
TAB moved to South Carolina in 2011 from Ohio where she dedicated 30 years to public education (math teacher, middle school principal on up to Assistant Superintendent for the 10th largest Ohio school district), and seven years to professional development for teachers and principals to improve the school experience and learning for students.
